Coiled Tube and Compact Boilers
I Overview
Compact boilers, sometimes referred to as packaged boilers, combine all of the necessary components of a boiler into one small package, including feed water treatment, controls, and the boiler itself.
Coiled tube boilers are a type of compact boiler that circulates water through flexible, helical tube coils. Their operation is similar to that of water tube boilers, in that water passes through the tubes while the combustion gases remain on the shell side, passing over the tube surfaces.
II Applications
Compact boilers are often used as a supplement to existing, larger boilers. It is more efficient to run a smaller boiler at full capacity than a larger boiler at partial capacity.
Coiled tube boilers are often used to generate steam, either saturated or superheated.
Compact and coiled tube boilers may also be installed as part of a modular boiler system.
III Equipment Options
Compact boilers are available in a variety of sizes, generally below 300 bhp, and commonly produce pressures of 150 to 250 psig.
