Space Heaters (Blueflame and IR)
I Overview
Space heaters burn natural gas to heat small indoor spaces.
II Applications
Natural gas space heaters are often used to supplement central heating systems in areas such as added-on rooms, basements and garages.
III Equipment Options
Several varieties of space heaters are currently available. Radiant surface heaters fire a ceramic panel, which then emits radiant heat, heating objects in front of the heater. These are the smallest, ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 BTU/hr.
Blue flame heaters produce convection heat with a flame placed behind glass. These range from 10,000 to 50,000 BTU/hr. Concealed flame direct vent heaters burn gas in a heat exchanger and circulate the heated air using an electric fan. These units range from 20,000 to 50,000 BTU/hr.
